Injury Report
A drabble about the Trojan War.
I just saw The Odyssey. It was awesome. So while Ancient Greek fever is sweeping the box office, I’d like to present you with a 100-word story I wrote a while back.
It’s called “Injury Report,” and it’s one of 99 other similar stories from Hecatontagonal Stew. I do hope you enjoy it—and the whole book, if you end up buying it.
Injury Report
A Drabble by Kyle A. Massa
Achilles is doubtful for tonight’s skirmish against the Troy Trojans due to an Achilles injury. Agamemnon, head coach of the Greece Achaeans, declined to comment.
This comes as another blow to an already depleted Achaean roster, which recently lost Patroclus to a career-ending fatality. An unnamed source close to the team commented, “This season’s going worse than Zeus and Hera’s marriage.”
The severity of the reigning MVP’s injury is not yet known, though the outlook is bleak. Achaean offensive coordinator Odysseus promised, “I’m exploring alternative game plans.”
Tonight’s skirmish begins at first light and will be broadcast on Fox.
